Just like every artist, every mastering engineer will have a different approach to their craft. With my background in broadcasting, I choose to use mostly modded broadcasting equipment to do my mastering. I know my equipment and will get the best out of your mixes.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN A MASTERING SESSION
Once we get the project, we'll load the files into our workstation. Smack Mastering will set up a time to do a 15 minute conference call to discuss your project. We'll choose wither to master your project to commercial standards (-10 RMS or louder) or master your project to a more dynamic range (K-14 metering). We'll ask for any reference CDs that closely fit the sound of your mixes. Taking what we discussed, Smack Mastering will master your project. As soon as we're done, we'll email you samples of each track for approval. If you love them, Great; if not, we'll go back and fix any issues until your completely happy with your final project. In the Baltimore metro area, you can attend the mastering session or come by and pick up your Masters.
